Wilma says, "Thanks to all our supporters for coming to visit us
during the Home & Garden Show at Mohegan Sun Arena!
It was so nice to meet so many new friends!!"
However, those shelter dogs who come and stay here with us at Laura's Hope Rescue are able to benefit greatly from being allowed the the time they need to adjust before being placed with a family. We use kennels at first to provide support and protection when rescues still have the insecurity of being around other animals. We teach them socialization at a comfortable pace. Rescues learn to interact with children and adults, as well as other animals. Once they are comfortable, they begin to learn boundaries and are trained on the Dog Watch Fence System so they can socialize freely within a 2 acre area here at Laura's Hope Rescue.
While staying at our facility, dogs work on crate-training, potty training, leash training, and appropriate social interactions. This makes for an easier transition for everyone involved. A happy home is a relaxed home!
Who we are: We are a completely volunteer, 501(c)(3) non profit, private dog rescue located in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We give second chances to unwanted dogs from across the country who were abandoned at kill shelters or owner surrendered. These boys and girls learn what it is to be safe and loved, then in turn show their adoptive family the love they learned!
Founded in 2009, Laura's Hope Rescue is a small rescue that does big things!
1,300+ dogs saved so far!
Our Mission: We strive to find the perfect family match for our rescues by equally screening the dogs who come to us AND our adoption applicants to ensure a good family fit for both the dogs and the humans!
Our Approach: Most of the puppies and dogs adopted through Laura's Hope Rescue originate from the south. We work together with many southern rescues and shelters to bring dogs to safety from overpopulated areas that need help finding placement for dogs. We strive to work together as one big rescue community to save lives, one paw at a time.
*Adopt, Don't Shop!*
We have puppies to adult dogs that are house trained, kid tested, parent approved and fully vetted for age.
Remember when you adopt a rescue dog, you're not only saving its life, but the life of the dog that takes it place!

Some dogs are transported north directly from shelters to us, while others have had time to adjust and socialize with foster families. Foster family volunteers spend time getting to know their foster dog's personality, help mold them to become better pets, and in turn make it easier on the dog to become a part of your family.
For those dogs who come to us through owner surrender or after time with a foster family, we've found they flourish when placed directly with their adoptive families and avoid shelter life.
